1: Esperanza doesent like marta at first because She was the one who deosnt like her father and thought that he didnt give land to anyone and also she was being mean by saying Something like you cant talk because you have a silver spoon in her mouth.

2: I do not think eperanza and Marta are alike but i do think they are different. One way they are different is that marta doesnt like esperanzas dad and she does. Also esperanza is way nicer and has much more manners then marta does.

3: I dont think marta will become nicer i think that she will alsways stay mean and try to get esperanza in trouble and cause lots of problems.

1. Because Marta's dad is a renegade, a rebel who fought against people like Esperanza's papa, who owned lots of land.
2. They are alike because (now) they are both poor and living in a small cottage near a farm. They are diffrerant because they both are on differant sides of the spanish revoulution. Marta is a rebel. She is even thinking of starting a strike for better living conditions if she finds out the people from Oklahoma have hot water.
3.I think they will stay enemies throughout the story.

(1) The reason is because Marta is talk bad stuff about her dad like if she really knew him. She said that he was selfish.
(2) They are alike because they are both poor people now and they both dislike eachother.
(3) I think they will become friends because I think Martas mom (or guardian) will die and Esperanza will feel bad.

1.)Esperanza dislikes Marta because she assumes that just because her papa was rich, that he was like all the other rich people, greedy, selfish, and uncaring. She didn’t know that Esperanza’s dad was a good man and gave lots of his land to his servants. Also because Marta asked Esperanza something and she didn’t answer so Marta said to Esperanza “do u have a silver spoon stuck in your mouth?”
(^’’^) <(“<) <(‘’)> (>”)> (^’’^)
2.)They are alike because Marta was treating Esperanza about what she new about her and Esperanza was treating the peasants bad because they were poor and at a low class. They are different because when Esperanza was telling mama to not share there personal life story or to not share her doll, she whispered about it and didn’t say it to the peasants faces. Marta did say it to Esperanza’s face.
(^’’^) <(“<) <(‘’)> (>”)> (^’’^)
3.)I think that Marta will continue to be rude to Esperanza throughout the book and she will take it like she did before. I think that she will try to tell mama but she will just say “I think she’s a nice gil.”l

1}Esperanza dislikes Marta when she first meets her because on page 96 it says "So you're a princess who's come to be a pesant? Where's all your finery?" With her saying that's just rude she shouldn't say that if she doesn't even know if something happened. So that's one reason why Esperanza doesn't like her. On page 97 Marta says "What's the matter, silver spoon stuck in your mouth?" Which is like why are you too sacred to tell me. Also, on that page Marta also says "Well, my father died, too." "Before he came to this country, he fought in the Mexican revolution aganist people like her father who owned all the land." So Marta is blaming Esperanza's dad because Marta's father died because he wanted land and Esperanza's dad had owned a whole ranch.

2} Esperanza and Marta are alike because both of their dad's died which means they both live with their mother. They both are very good friends with Miguel and his family and Isabel and her family. Esperanza and Marta are different because of their personalaties. Marta is mean so far and Esperanza is nice.

3} I don't think that their relationship will be better because first of all i don't think that Marta will ever sort of like forgive Esperanza about the fight over the land. Second because Esperanza doesn't seem to care very much about Marta.

1.Esperanza dislikes Marta when they first meet because she judged Esperanza's father and his family even though he shared the land nicely with the servants. She thinks that all owners of land are unkind and unfair to the people who work for them. Once when she asked Esperanza a question, Esperanza didn't answer right away and Marta said: "what, a silver spoon stuck on your tongue?" in a mean way because usually the rich had silver and gold.

2.Esperanza and Marta are similar because Marta just judged Esperanza by having her dad own the land. Marta thinks that all people that own land aren’t kind to their servants but obviously she was wrong. She’s similar to Esperanza because on the train, Esperanza was judging all the people by their living habits. Like her, they don’t have a place to live or any water to be clean by. Esperanza doesn’t want to be in a train with dirty people and she showed that by not letting that little girl touch or hold her doll because she’s dirty.

3.I don’t think their relationship will get better because I personally think that they’re both going to like Miguel. I think that Marta will go on strike and protest and maybe get fired so maybe there won’t be a huge fight in between them because they won’t be near each other because she wouldn’t work there anymore. I also think it won’t get better because Marta will keep treating Esperanza like a mean, rich kid who doesn’t care for anyone else when really, that’s what Marta is.

1. Esperanza disliked Marta when they first met because Marta is mean to Esperanza. Marta gives rude comments that probably offend Esperaza. For example, on page 96-97 she says," So you're a princess who's come to be a peasant? Where's all your finery?" Eperanza stared at her and said nothing. "What's the matter, silver spoon stuck in your mouth?"
2. Esperanza and Marta are alike because both of them are from Mexico and both are teenage girls. They also both have come to work in the United States because their families are poor. They are different because Marta is a bully and Esperanza is not. Esperanza acts rich while Marta doesn’t.
3. I think that the relationship may get a little better as the story goes on. I say this for they haven't really got to know each other. Once they learn about their personalities and likes/dislikes and background info about each other, they'll probably think differently about each other.

1. Esperanza doesn’t like Marta because Marta was insulting her life in Mexico and also some negativity towards her Papa.
()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
2. The two girls are alike because they have back-round with Mexico and they’re both Spanish. They are different because Marta is more a rebel and Esperanza is a peace maker, she doesn’t like to make trouble.
()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
3. I think that their relationship will get worse because in five minutes Marta was very rude to Esperanza, imagine what she’ll be like in a week toward Esperanza and her family.

1. SHe doesn't like Marta because she insults her and her family (dad) without even knowing her and her family. She calls Esperanza bsscily a snob.
2. They are alike because her and Marta both lost their dads also they both came from Mexico. They are unlike because Esperanza was rich and is now poor but Marta was always poor because it says her dad foght against people like Esperanza and her family.
3. I think Esperanza will start hating her. But i think Esperanza will start acting like a poor person anad not like a rich perso nand will start to like Marta.

1. Espernaza dislikes Marta because when they meet she snaps at Espernaza before she even knew Esperanza.
***********************************
2. *1. Esperanza and Marta are alike in small ways. They are both poor and aer desperate workers.
*2. Espernaza and Marta are different because Espernaza seems to be more polite because she didn't snap at Marta when she kept insulting Esperanza. Marta kept insulting Espernaza before she even knew her, assuming all the rich people were the same. That was being rude of Marta.
***********************************
3. I think when Esperanza starts working, she will understand the conditions of all the poor people, and may start accepting that she is now different and poor. She will understand Marta's ways and feel bad for her, and she will be kind and generous toward Marta, and Marta might accept her, and their relationship can grow.

1. I think that Esperanza disliked Marta because that her father was fighting the rich and Esperanza's dad was on the rich side.

2. I think that they our the same because they both lived in Mexico and that there fathers were both killed.

3. I think that there relationships will not progress because that it seems like Marta likes Miguel also and they began with a bad start also there fathers fought on different sides in the war.

1. She did not like here because she said about Martas father and how he died in the war about fighting over the land, and then it reminded esperanza how here father died in the same war, but Martas dad was on a differant side of the war the her dad.

2. They are differant by Marta is very nosy and like when marta just hoped in the care without asking. And esperanza she always has everything right, like when she was in the cab and it was very dirty she did not like that.

3. I thing that Marta will marry alfonzo because he is a very hardworker and marta metioned him a lot of times and how they are friends, so in the end they will get married and live in california

1. Esperanza doesn't like her because one she was making fun of her father when she didn't even know him. She thought that he was like the other rich people. Also, I think that Marta likes maguil.

2. They are alike that both of there fathers died. They both don't like each other. They both like maguil. Also, they both think that there fathers were good men. Also, there both poor. Esperanza thinks she's rich and marta thinks she's poor. Esperanza used to live in Mexico and Marta lives in the US. Marta and Esperanza live in differant camps.

3. I think what will happen is that Marta and Esperanza will always hate each other and I think that they will go on a strike and get paid more money. then Marta and Esperanza will become best friends. Then if they don't become rich they will still try as MC#1 said in class Esperanza means hope so they will have hope. Also, Marta and Maguil I think are going to get married.

1. She dislikes her because she talked about how her father fought again rich people like Esperanza's father but she did not ask if her father was mean like the other rich people.

2. They are alike because they both lost their father and both came to america for work. They are differnt because Marta is a rebal and she was never rich like esperanza once was. Marta cares about what condistions they live in. Esperanza could care less.

3. I don't think it will go up hill because Marta's father lost his life trying to fight agents rich people and marta will never let that point die. She will bring it up again and again and will never stop. It also won't change because she talkes to migule more then she does and she is closer to migule's age

1) Esperanza dislikes her because Marta is insaulting her. Also i think she dislikes the fact that miguel is talking to Marta like she never insaulted esperanza. I think that later on in the book Miguel may fall inlove with Marta and leave Esperanza behind like dirt.-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-2) Marta and esperanzas's Fathers both died and they both insault people. For example when Esperanza was on the train she kept insaulting the poor people like Marta insaulted Esperanza. They are differnt because Esperanza was rich and marta was not. Also Marta insaults Esperanza differntly then she did to the poor.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
3) I think that if Marta starts to like Miguel their relationship will get worse because esperanza likes miguel. Also if they don't like eachother there may be a fight over Miguel.

Esperanza doesn't like Marta because she is mean to her. Her Dad was in th revolution in Mexico, and the people involed tried to take over land from the rich to give to the poor. esperanza's father was a rich large land owner and the people in the revolution wan't to take Esperanz's fathers land.

They are both poor and have to work just to get by, and they are both mexican. Their family are both very differnt, they are on both sides of the war, marta's family is wants the revolution, while Esperanz's family doesn't want it.

I think they will start to like each other because they already have something in common with each other, their father died. Also They could realize that not all rich people only keep their land and not give it to the poor. And that the people in the revolution are trying to help the poor, which is good. And they will work together and become friends.

1. Martha is a JERK!! when she first learns that Esperanza's father was a rich land owner. She is probably mean because her father fought and died in the Mexican Revolt.

2. They are both girls. They both live in America. They both live on a farm. They boh came to America from Mexico.

3. I think that their relationship might get a little better as it progresses. I think that this is because they will find things in common and start to like each other.

2. The things that are similar between them is they both lived in Mexico and there fathers died that's it for thing similar. The are different because there fathers died of different reasons. Marta knows a little more about America. Those are the different things between them.

3. I think that Esperanza will get vary mad and will want to pop her one right in the face. I would if a girl talked to me like that.

1. Esperanza does not like Marta because practically the first thing she says is an insult about rich people. Right away she offends Esperanza. Would you like someone who offends you before they even know you??

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

2. They are alike becasue the have both experienced their fathers dieing becauser someone killed them. They are different because Marta makes judgements about things too fast. She doesn't get to really know what they're like. Esperanza doesn't judge Marta when she first meets hewr. Once she starts insulting Esperanza, then Esperanza starts to judge her.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

3. I don't think Marta's feeli9ngs to Esperanza will change. Marta seems like a very stubborn person. Esperanza won't be able to show Marta what she's really like if Marta won't listen or watch.
