1. She said that right now they are in a deep valley, but they will have to work their way up. The valley represents poor, and the mountain represents the rich. Now Esperanza must start poor, and work her way up to the rich. Also, earlyier in the story, Abuelita says with the blanket sometimes you have to just start over. That is what they are doing now, except in life.

1.She uses it by telling her that life can be hard and rough at times but you'll always get to a better time. Like she said you go from the vally but you'll always make it to the top of the mountain, and then start all over again. Also it shows liked is like a rollercoster there are many ups and downs.

1.) Abuelita uses the blanket to teach Esperanza life
lessons by telling her just like on the blanket hpw there is hills and valleys, it is like when you're on the bottom, or the down side of things, you're in the valley. When things go well, and you are on the good side of things, you are on top of the hill.

<*>1. It is basically saying that in life you will be stuck in bad situations, which would be like being stuck in a valley because your all the way down, but also in life you have good moments when you have climbed to the top of the mountain. Abuelita is using the blanket with the mountains and valleys as an example that there are ups and downs in life, and you must never give up in trying to get to the top of the mountain.

1. Abuelita uses the blanket to teach Esperanza about life by saying: "don't be afraid to start over." On page 51, after the fire, Abuelita told Esperanza the same thing... "don't be afraid to start over." Also, she used the blanket as an example to tell her that starting over isn't a bad thing, it just may be difficult to do.

1. I think that when Abuelita said that when you mess up you can always start over. Bad things are going to happen in life you just need to forget them. Also, don't let that one thing bother you. Also, good thing are going to happen in life and you keep that thought in your head. Later on in life you remember the good thing and forget the bad.

1. She is teching Esperanza that to encourage her that she will be there soon. The vallys mean bad things and the Mountains are good things. the reason these have to do with sewing is that is the way that Esperanza's grandmother taught her earler in the book. And she said when Esperanza completes them all they will be together again.

1}I think it means that when Abuelita says to Esperanza that she shouldn't be afraid to start over. When Esperanza was just learning how to crochet she didn't go up the mountain and down to the valley so she messed up. Then when Abuelita said to Esperanza that she is at the bottom of the mountain with all of these problems. Then once she was in California that Esperanza would be at the top of mountain and she wouldn't have as many problems.

1. Abuelita uses the blanket to teach Esperanza about a reality in life. She does that by giving the unfinished blanket to Esperanza. While Abuelita gives the blanket to Esperanza, Abuelita says, “Do not be afraid to start over. When I was your age, I left Spain with my mother, father, and sisters…. So we came. We had to take several ships and the journey lasted months. When we arrived, nothing was promised. There were many hard times. But life was also exciting. And we had each other.” Abuelita said this when she gave Esperanza a blanket that she was working on then Abuelita gave it to her

Abuelita uses the blanket she is crocheting to teach Esperanza about the realities of life by comparing life to the zigzags on the blanket. She says Esperanza and her family were at the top of the mountain before papa died. Ever since papa died it has been down hill. Now she and the rest of her family are at the bottom of the valley starting to go up. When she gets to The United States of America, she will be almost at the top of the mountain.

1. the crocheting shows that at the bottom of the mountain that is stitched in the blanket there are problems and that is where it starts. But at the top of the mountain that is where the problm ends.

1.)Abuelita uses the blanket she is crocheting to teach Esperanza about the realities of life by using a resemblance between the hills and the valleys and life. The tops of the hills was a metaphor for being on top of life like she was before the house got burnt down. Also when her troubles stay at the bottom she will go to the top away from her troubles so she won’t have to worry about anything because her troubles wouldn’t be fallowing her any more. When she is at the bottom of the hills her troubles will be surrounding her like a mob.

The blanket had places in it where the stitching went up, and where is went down. Esperanza's family was on top of the mountain until her father died, when they were half way down the mountain. Then when their house burned to the ground they were at the bottom of a valley. Also when Esperanzamessed up, Abuelita told her to start over. This is like what the family has to do now.

1. Abuelita uses the blanket by cuddleing up with the blanket because here house burt down, and she is probebly shivering because sometimes whn you get panected you get the shivers. Also She was trying she is teaching here when you go to california, the tempertures can get up to the 90's and downmto middle 50's, so when she has spare times she could maybe crochet a blacket for warmth, or maybe for sleeping. Also, she could make a profet on selling the blanket, and that could be here job. Another thing is that the grandma is telling here "realities of life" because it is always good to have a realalitie in life wheather it is a sport, musical talent, or just a hobbie because it keeps you very busy. And you do not want to just sit around and be a pig,(that is called a couch potato) it is good to do something at altimes. Esperanza have never done crochet before so she need a realities to do instead of a job.

She tells Esperanza to start at the valley and work her way up to the top of the mountain, which means that you have to work at things to get rewards , and in life there are many ups+downs. You will have good things happen to you and bads things too.

1. She taught her by telling her that she would weeve mountian and vallys and i think that means that you will cross many places and many towns. She is learing a life lesson that her jouny will not be easy and very hard. She will find her destiny some day. The blanket is the only thing the grandmother and esperanza have to remind them of each other. This is another life lesson because she does not know what is like to be poor because she was rich.
